Congratulations to all our children who received a sports award this year across a range of different sports, in and out of school. We are very lucky to have so many sporting children in our school and we couldn’t give an award to everyone but we are very proud of their achievements.
The children have really enjoyed Health Week this year. They have taken part in lots of different activities from handball to dodgeball, dance to athletics, rounders to crickets and lots more in between. The children have been brilliantly for the different coaches who have come in and for our different sports leaders across the school. They have also been exploring how to keep their teeth healthy, how to be a good sports person and have began to look at mental health. Below are a selection of pictures but make sure to visit the class pages too!
The whole school have been enjoying Sports Madness in the sunshine. A huge thank you to the Y6 children who organised and lead each activity brilliantly!
Well done to the three year 6 teams who took part in the orienteering festival. I am very pleased to say that one of our teams came first being an impressive 6 minute faster than the second winning team. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the event and competed like true sports people.
Boys Rugby Festival
A huge well done to the boys who attended the rugby tournament. They really enjoyed themselves and conducted themselves brilliantly. They were very proud to receive a trophy and a certificate!
Well done to all the children who took part in the cricket competition. Miss Webb and Miss Strauther were very proud of their sportsmanship. We won one match and lost two, but they were only a few runs in it!
Y4 and Y5 Cross Country
Well done to all our Y4 and Y5 children who competed in the cross country event at the weekend. Our girls came 3rd over all. The teachers who attended were really proud of you effort and you represented our school brilliantly!
Well done to our year 6 girl who got through to the nationals for cross country. Even though she has recently broken her leg and has been out of training for 6 week, she did a superb job! Her coach, Richard, said, 'She showed real guts with her run placing 177th in 10.04, breaking a bone in her foot just after qualifying only coming out of her cast last week and without any training since put herself on the line with the best in England.'
We are really proud of you!
