  • Revised Government Guidance

    Wed 05 Jan 2022

A Letter has been sent to Parents

I am writing to provide you with an update about the recently revised government guidance, and how this may impact the way that we operate going forward.

The pandemic continues to present challenges in all sectors of life. Education is no different and towards the end of last term we experienced unprecendented levels of staff absence due to the current wave of infection. The national data indicates that this wave has not yet peaked and that we are likely to see simlilar, and possibly higher, levels of staff absence. In other circumstances we would turn to supply agencies for supplementary staff. Sadly, this sector too has been impacted; there are simply far too few supply teachers to match the huge level of demand.

We remain committed to keeping classes open this term and will do all that we can to achieve this. The government has recognised that this may not always be possible and I must make you aware that there may be times when we will reluctantly have to revert to remote learning. Please be assured that this will only occur when all other options have been explored and will be a short-term measure until conditions allow for a return to faceto-face teaching.

It is likely that you have heard that the government has recommended that face-coverings are worn in classes. This only impacts secondary academies at this stage and is something that we are keen to comply with. Individual academies will be in touch to provide further information about this. This is being reviewed on 26 January alongside all other Plan B measures.

As ever, please take very good care of yourselves and your loved ones. I very much look forward to a more normal future in 2022. Yours faithfully,

Chris Moodie Chief Executive Officer Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham Multi Academy Trust (SNMAT)Dear

  • Privacy Notice COVID19

    Thu 10 Sep 2020

Privacy Notice in Relation to Covid 19

The health, safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors to the academy is of utmost importance and considerable planning has gone into ensuring robust systems and effective management procedures are in place to mitigate against the spread of virus transmission and also how to deal with cases should there be any potential or actual outbreaks of coronavirus.

It is vital that we all work together to protect pupils/students, staff, parents and everyone who comes into our premises. We will therefore co-operate with agencies such as Public Health England and Local Authorities and follow the Track and Trace process as required by Government. We are also mindful of protecting the personal data of individuals.

Collecting Personal Data with Regard to Covid 19

We have a lawful basis to collect and share personal data with relevant authorities where necessary relating to employees, pupils, parents and visitors to the academy under the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 and in our privacy notices we make it clear that this includes safeguarding the health and wellbeing of pupils and staff.

The lawful basis for the processing of personal data by Public Health England (PHE) for the purpose of protecting public health is provided by the following two Articles of the GDPR:

Article 6 (1) (e) ‘processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller’, which covers personal information (names, date of birth etc); and

Article 9 (2) (i) ‘processing is necessary for reasons of public interest in the area of public health’, which covers special category data such as health data.

Sharing Data under the "Track and Trace" Scheme

We may be required to share Personal Data of individuals under the Track and Trace scheme.

In sharing this information, we will take into account the risks of not sharing the information.

Where data needs to be shared with Health officials we will:

    • limit the data shared to the minimum necessary

    • only share data with the appropriate authorities

    • share via secure methods (e.g. encrypted email)

verify the identity of persons making phone calls/sending emails requesting personal data (be aware of the risk of cyber/impersonation crime)

keep a record of all disclosures made, including when and the rationale for doing so. And notify any individuals whose data has been shared (if practicable).

The Privacy Notice for the scheme can be found at:

    https://contact-tracing.phe.gov.uk/help/privacy-notice

    Visitors’ Information

For Track and Trace purposes we may wish to obtain visitors’ telephone numbers. If this is done it will be on a voluntary basis as there is no legal requirement for visitors to provide us with their contact details.

If contact details of visitors are obtained, they will be kept secure and not on public display within the visitors’ book. Any contact tracing details from visitors will be kept for 21 days only, after which the data will be securely destroyed.

ICO guidance on this may be found at:

    https://ico.org.uk/global/data-protection-and-coronavirus-information-hub/coronavirus-recovery-dataprotection-advice-for-organisations/collecting-customer-and-visitor-details-for-contact-tracing/

Sharing Information with the School Community

If anyone in our academy tests positive for coronavirus we have safety measures in place. It may be necessary for groups of people to be sent home with requests that they go for testing. If there are multiple cases, this will be reported to Public Health England.

It is unlikely that it will be necessary to share personal data relating to health with any other person or with the academy community; a general statement may be made such as "a parent of a child in your child’s school ‘bubble’ has experienced COVID-19 symptoms…" or "a member of staff teaching another ‘bubble’ in school has developed COVID-19 symptoms…". Names of individuals affected, or more detailed health details will not be shared.

Requesting access to your personal data

Under data protection legislation, parents and pupils have the right to request access to information about them that we hold. To make a request for your personal information, or be given access to your child’s educational record, contact the Headteacher of the academy or the SNMAT Data Protection Officer at data.protection@snmat.org.uk.

You also have the right to:

 object to processing of personal data that is likely to cause, or is causing, damage or distress

 prevent processing for the purpose of direct marketing

 object to decisions being taken by automated means

in certain circumstances, have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed; and

 claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the Data Protection regulations

  • New routines and systems in school for covid 19

    Thu 10 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents / Carers,

I hope you are all well and your children have settled in happily.  I just wanted to clarify a few parts of our new systems and routines.

    Symptoms of Covid-19

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

    • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
    • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
    • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.
If you, or a member of the household, have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
    • Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
    • Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
    • Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result.
      Book a test via:
      https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-a-test-to-check-if-youhave-coronavirus/

We are bound to have children with high temperatures as we go into the winter months, but we need to stay vigilant.  If a pupil shows symptoms, they will be sent to my office to wait for a parent to collect them and go for a test.  They cannot come back to school until:
    • a negative test has been received or,
    • have self-isolated for 10 days (14 days for the rest of the household) following a positive test result.
If there is a confirmed positive case in school, we seek advice from the Local Health Protection Team.  The likely outcome will be the class bubble is sent home as there is likely to have been contact across the class bubble.
      Visiting the School Office
Any queries please email the office staff via office@stpeters.snmat.org.uk or ring 01623 489980.
If you need to buy school uniform, try to ring / email orders and come to the office to collect and pay.
We are accepting visitors but on an appointment basis or, where possible, via telephone conversation.
Drop off and Pick up – I know you already know this!
Use the one way system (Year 1 – Year 6) that leads around the back of the community centre to the playground.  All classes have their own entrance.
Foundation Stage use the gates outside the main entrance.
Please don’t park in the school carpark unless you are a blue badge holder.  There are lots of children (and parents) walking through and we do not want any accidents.
If you are a blue badge holder, try to aim for the start or end of the drop off window.
      During the school day
Children are washing hands regularly throughout the day and where possible, keeping doors and windows open.
All classes have staggered breaktimes and lunchtimes.
Only three classes are timetabled outside for breaktimes and each have their own area of the school playground to use.
All desks in classrooms face the same direction, so children are shoulder-to-shoulder, rather than face-to-face.
Children are eating their lunch in their classrooms, so there is not any mixing in the school hall.
Sadly, there is no whole school collective worship, so they are in the classroom bubbles.  I never thought I would pre-record a collective worship!

I hope that dispels some of the myths around school life at the moment.  We are trying to keep the majority of the school day normal, but there was bound to be some changes.  I am trying to make myself available outside at the start and end of the day, so feel free to ask questions and do not be offended if I keep a level of distance!
Many thanks for your ongoing support, my staff and I really appreciate it especially during these strange times.
