Ash Class

'Of all the trees that grow so fair, Old England to adorn,

Greater are none beneath the Sun, Than Oak, and Ash, and Thorn.'

- Rudyard Kipling

Welcome to the Ash Class page!

I hope you have all had an amazing Summer Holiday and are ready to come back to school refreshed and excited. Miss Duncanson and I have been very busy setting up the classroom, you all have your own peg, drawer and table place ready for you.

Don't forget to bring your book bag and water bottle every day so that you are ready to learn!

PE

Our PE days will be Thursday and Friday, please make sure you have you PE kit in school on these days, it is important that you have a tracksuit/warm clothes and trainers for PE days because we will be outside as much as possible, even when it is cold. Please do not wear earrings to school on PE days unless you are able to remove them safely by yourself as we are unable to help with this. If you are unable to do PE for whatever reason please ask your grown up to tell me in the morning.

Reading

The reading books that we send home for you to practice can be changed when you have read them 3 times at home, as this helps you to read more fluently and learn a story better. When you are ready to change it just pop it in our 'book swap box' when you come in that morning and myself or Miss Duncanson will change it that day. It is really important that you read with your grown ups as much as possible to help you to build up your amazing phonics knowledge.

We have been working hard over the Summer to add to our beautiful reading corner which you can access at certain times in the day, if you would like to bring your favourite book from home to share with the class this would be welcomed.

Parents

I hope you too have had a lovely Summer with your children!

Moving to a new class can often be nerve wracking for the children and the parents, and we would like to help with this in whatever way possible. If you have any questions or queries at any point in the school year you can pop into class any morning during drop off (between 8:40 and 8:55) or any day after school (3:15 onwards) and we would be happy to help you.

The classroom door opens at 8:40 every morning and children can access breakfast in class until 8:50, after this time your child will be marked as late in the register and won't be able to have any breakfast unfortunately. Please make sure your child is in school on time so they are happy, settled and ready to learn! smiley

Thank you for all your continued support,

Mrs Slater

Wow! Look how busy the teachers have been over the summer creating exciting places for children to enjoy their favourite books. If you have any favourite books, bring them in and share them with your class.
