STEM Day

Today we had lots of fun programming and flying drones with Sue. We changed the variables to see who could land on 50!

We also used different materials to see who could build the strongest bridge, used sweets to create 3D shapes and had to create something to keep an egg from smashing when it was dropped. Have a look at the pictures to see the fun we have had!

Today the year 3’s have been consolidating their knowledge of money. If only those coins were real!

Thank you to the National Ice Arena for making our trip such a success. We had an amazing time. Many thanks also to all the members of staff and parent helpers, without whom we wouldn’t have been able to go.

Swimming

Fantastic first session at the Rebecca Addlington swimming pool. Well done to every single member of Year 3. You were awesome.

We’ve been keeping an eye on the weather and tracking how much it’s rained. We also grouped some animals together in the right classifications and made some scientific branches with them.

The children were role playing the characters in our story, Poppy and the Elf. Thry had to creatively come up with their own conversation!

A few more pictures of the amazing mosaics.

Class 6, 7 and 8 have had an exciting afternoon creating their mosaics with families. Class 7 had planned their mosaics using a computer program. They then carried out their design using clay and beads and sequins. I think the adults had more fun than the children. Thank you all for your support and coming to participate in the children’s learning.

Hopefully everyone in class 7 has a copy of the homework, some of the children have already told me some fantastic ideas they have for it! The homework is due in Monday 19th November so everyone has plenty of time to do some fantastic things.

Horrible Histories - Roman Toilets Marcus and Sextus

From series one episode 10 Roman toilets, sponge on a stick.

 Welcome to Class 7.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you all back on Thursday 6th September. Remember that as of Monday, you will be able to have breakfast in your classroom, so make sure you are there in plenty of time!

Our topic this term will be Romans! There will be a topic based homework coming very soon and this will lead to a chance to show off what you have learned at the end of the half term so watch this space.

While we do our very best to keep PE on the same day, there will sometimes have to be changes at last minute so please make sure you bring your PE kit in on a Monday and leave it in school all week.

Lower Key Stage 2 hope to have reading books to send home by the end of the first full week at school and we ask that you read at least four times a week at home and record that you have done so in your reading record.

If there are any parents or carers that would like to come in and hear the children read or help them to learn any other skills then they would be more than welcome. Please see the class teacher if you think you can help out.

Last of all, the Lower Key Stage 2 team are very excited about welcoming you all back to St. Peter's. We will do our very best to make sure the year is the best it can be for everyone. If you have any concerns or questions please come and find us before or after school.

We look forward to an exciting year,

Miss Webb, Mr Blythe and Mrs Eady
