Dear Parent / Carers
I am writing to share the wonderful news that Mrs Slater is pregnant and her due date is in May. We are all extremely happy for Mrs Slater and her husband, Ben.
With this in mind, and to provide continuity through the rest of the academic year, we have made the strategic decision to integrate her class between the existing Beech and Oak classes starting in January. Mrs Slater will continue to work as part of the Key Stage 1 Team until she goes off on maternity leave later in the year. The mornings will continue to run as usual with children breaking into smaller, more focused groups for Read Write Inc and Mrs Slater will support children in class during maths time.
We have been fortunate up to this point having small classes in Key Stage 1. However, I would rather have slightly larger classes (currently 29 in each) with quality teachers, than take a risk with your children’s education by appointing an unknown teacher part way through the year. The children will be taught in Ash (Mrs Slater) and Beech (Mrs Thrower/Mrs Mullins) classrooms because the rooms are bigger. I have absolute confidence in Mrs Thrower, Mrs Mullins and Miss Wood to support the emotional, social and academic progression of your children.
Enjoy your Christmas break and many thanks for your continued support,
Mr James Marshall
