PE Vision Statement
Vision Statement for Our Primary School PE Curriculum
At St Peter's, our vision for Physical Education is to create an inclusive, empowering, and enriching environment where every child is inspired to thrive—physically, socially, emotionally, and mentally.
Our PE curriculum offers a wide range of opportunities and experiences designed to ignite a lifelong love of movement, play, and personal development. Through two high-quality hours of PE each week—one led by the class teacher and one by a specialist coach—we aim to stretch each child’s ability, build confidence, and ensure that every pupil has the opportunity to shine.
We are proud to implement the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) scheme, where play becomes a powerful vehicle for exploration, creativity, relationship-building, and daily physical activity. This contributes meaningfully to our commitment to 30 active minutes per day, ensuring children remain engaged and energised.
Through carefully structured lessons and playful exploration, we develop not only physical competence but also emotional literacy, perseverance, and empathy. Children learn to support one another, face challenges with resilience, and communicate effectively—skills that extend far beyond the sports field.
Our ultimate goal is that every child will represent the school in some form of sport or physical activity before they leave us, gaining pride, purpose, and a sense of achievement. Through our Sport and Play Leader initiatives, children are nurtured as young leaders who can articulate ideas, lead by example, and inspire their peers.
Together, through PE and play, we are building healthy bodies, confident minds, and compassionate hearts—preparing every child for the next stage of their journey.
