PE Vision Statement

At St. Peter’s C of E Primary Academy Mansfield, our vision for Physical Education and Sport needs to prepare pupils to become valuable and fully rounded members of society, who demonstrate the following values: respect, aspiration, listen, love, perseverance and forgiveness. Through PE, these values are embedded within the School Games value of honesty, passion, self-belief, respect, determination and teamwork. The three key building blocks that run throughout our school curriculum are to become independent learners, work well in a team and reflect on their learning, these are developed within our PE teaching.

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to take part in physical activity on a regular basis and become more physically confident and competent. We hope that, through all the sporting opportunities and physical activity we offer, the children will develop a love and passion for sport and continue this into later life.

We will provide our children with at least 2 hours of fun, exciting and active PE lessons every week to keep the children healthy and active.   We aim to offer at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day and educate pupils on a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle. This vision equips them for a healthy and active lifestyle and lifelong participation in sport.

We strive to give all children the opportunity to represent our school in a variety of competitions. Competition develops character and a platform to build self-confidence and belief in one’s ability. We believe that every child should have equal opportunity to take part in physical activity on a regular basis to discover and develop personal attributes.

It is of paramount importance that we create sporting leaders during the children's time at St. Peter’s, which will prepare them for the next stage in their education. We aim to offer children the opportunity to lead sporting activities, through playtime leaders, Sports Crew and leading activities for the whole school during sports week. Through these activities, children will demonstrate the sporting values and lead by example.
